Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
