Omaha Hi Low: General Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complicated but well-loved poker variations. It’s a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the primary reason why a once irrelevant game, has expanded in popularity so rapidly.
Omaha 8 or better starts exactly like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to each player. A round of betting follows in which players can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. Another round of betting ensues. After all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, an additional card is revealed on the turn. a further round of betting follows and then the river card is flipped. The gamblers must attempt to put together the best high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is the point where many entrants often get baffled. Unlike Holdem, in which the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player must utilize precisely three cards from the board, and exactly two cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is just how it sounds. It is the best possible hand out of everyone’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the very same approach in just about every poker game.
A lower hand is more difficult, but really opens up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the weakest hand that can be put together, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as does the higher hand. When there’s no lower hand presented, the high hand wins the complete pot.
It may seem difficult at the outset, after a few rounds you will be able to get the basic subtleties of the game simply enough. Since you have players betting for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha hi/lo provides an exciting collection of betting choices and owing to the fact that you have several players shooting for the high, along with a few battling for the low. If you love a game with a plethora of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha hi-low.
