Online Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

February 23rd, 2022 at 16:25

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I think television can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen betting on web poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
