Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet.
