Poker has become globally celebrated as of late, with televised championships and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, arcs back quite a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years several variations on the first poker game have been created, including a few games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to twenty-one than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the casino instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little conniving or other types of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the croupier broadcasting "No further bets." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course every one of the different players attain five cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the casino’s first card, you need to in turn make a call bet or surrender. The call bet’s amount is akin to your beginning bet, indicating that the stakes will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your ante goes instantaneously to the dealer. After the bet comes the face off. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, plus a figure in accordance with the original bet. If the casino does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the bank’s hand. The bank pony’s up money even with your wager and fixed expectations on your call bet. These odds are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- two to one for two pairs
- three to one for 3 of a kind
- 4-1 for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
