Recently, I received a question from one of my students. It stated, "What precisely is pot probabilities and is Texas hold’em pot odds method worth pursuing?"

One thing to keep in mind, any type of Texas holdem odds can and usually do obtain really confusing. On the other hand, let me break pot probabilities down in very simple terms. Please note that we are only discussing Pot Probabilities. Not outs, implied odds, basic odds or anything else like that.

In short, pot odds are the odds you receive when determining the ratio of the amount of money in the pot to the quantity of money it’ll charge you to call the bet.

For example, let’s say you’re heads up with Player A. If there’s $150.00 in the pot following the flop and Player A places a $20.00 wager it’s going to cost you only thirteen per cent of the pot to stay in the hand. If your likelihood of succeeding is greater than 13 % it is a no-brainer to call because you’d have great pot odds.

That’s all there is to it genuinely. Hold em pot odds boils down to one thing. If your chance of winning is greater than the ratio of the pot size to the bet then you’ve good pot probabilities. If it is lower than you’ve bad pot probabilities.

One far more thought about Texas hold’em pot probabilities. You are still playing the gambler more so than anything else. Wager on the player more than your starting hands or the size of the chip stack and even, yes the pot probabilities.

If you can discover to read your opponents well you can utilize pot odds to help justify or solidify your determination. Except Hold’em pot probabilities don’t have to be an end all whenever you generate a poker determination.

Knowing and understanding how Texas holdem pot odds work may be a useful and successful technique. Except again don’t generate Texas holdem pot probabilities your only strategy.
