The Background of Poker Money

July 10th, 2010 at 4:21

Casino chips have been made from a varied selection of materials in an almost infinite selection of styles since the birth of gambling and the need to track winnings. The most commonly seen materials used today in the manufacture of current poker chips are plastic, clay composite, and acrylic composite. Clay chips, the original of the group, have been made in the US since the late 19th century.

Back in the 19th century, poker players appear to be using any small valuable object imaginable. Early poker players occasionally employed jagged gold pieces along with chips – mainly manufactured of wood and clay. By the 20th century, poker chip designs started to play a bigger prominence, and the smooth edges of older chips gave way to chips with slits to keep them neatly arranged with each other.

There is little or no debate that poker has grown steadily in universal appeal ever since its origin in the 19th century. With the huge advancement of online gaming and unique TV shows, public appeal in poker has feed the fire a lot faster than ever before. Many individuals are first introduced to poker by TV showssuch as "Celebrity Poker" or the Travel Channel’s "World Poker Tour," and most will play their first hands online. Despite web poker’s growth, nothing replaces the feeling of shuffling weighty clay poker chips in your hands, throwing chips into the center of a casino table, or stacking high pilesstacks of chips after displaying a victorious hand.
