Concentrate on Annie Duke

April 9th, 2010 at 8:22

Annie Duke might not have earned her first WSOP Bracelet until two thousand and four but she is one of the most feared poker competitors around the live action games at The Bellagio in vegas. Annie’s long-overdue World Series of Poker bracelet came with a win at the "buried game" of Omaha hi/lo.

While competitors from the "younger crowd" of poker run wild after a huge win at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mom" to her 4 kids. Annie was born in New Hampshire into a family of card players. If you don’t believe that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to compete in the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has won her cut of difficult tables, including knocking out Howard along the way on a couple of occasions. They are both competitors that have the skill to win the huge cash and do so with a grin.

Annie is a strong player at any poker table due to the fact that she is a genuine poker player, but it is a bit more than simply being strong at the game. Annie is surprisingly smart and graduated from Columbia U where she double majored in Psychology and English.

When you are seated across from her at the table you know Annie Duke is there to play the game and she starts "summing" you up from the time you join the game table. If you can’t gamble like a camp, then do not waste your time.

Winning over $3 million in tournament competitions, Mrs. Duke became a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wished to hone his talents and develop into a power at the poker table.

You may catch a glimpse of her at the Bellagio, you’ll observe Annie on the tv and you might even play against her in a net poker match, but do not count on an easy win. Except of course you’re a camp-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. Although, it’d be fun to mention you played at the same table as "The Duke".
